A fantastic year for music for me, not necessarily because it was a fantastic year for music in general, but because I listened to about ten times as much new music as I’ve ever done in any one year in the past. How much good music must I have missed in years gone by? I hate to think. Thanks to Spotify – and Spotify apps like the one from Any Decent Music? – I was able to listen to half a dozen highly-rated new albums a week, most from acts I’d never heard of. And I kept that up all year. Every time an album really intrigued me, or made me smile, I added my favourite material to an ever-expanding list, which I eventually managed to whittle down to 100 songs, which you can find as a Spotify playlist here, if you’re so inclined. Agreed, my annual Spotify list has been the longest and most diverse for years, so its not just me after all. I’m loving the Treetop Flyers and will be sampling the rest over the Xmas break
